#BrightSquare Day 20

“As usual for a Squares Challenge month I will be sharing squares daily, and I would love it if you did the same. However if daily sounds too daunting, don’t worry. It is fine to join us weekly or even just pop in occasionally with your squares. The frequency of your squares depends on you and also your blog. All I ask is that your image has 4 equal sides, and that it reflects the theme of bright.”

Prescott Car Show #1: Yellow Cars

Old Cars Speak

Cars beckon to Vince,
They tug on his credit card,
"Buy me, buy me, please."

The Ingraos spend a lot of time looking at drooling over (and sometimes buying) old cars. Vince notices every detail. I like colors. For the next few days you will see some of the brightest cars and trucks on the planet.

Jeep made over 300,000 Willys Wagons between 1946 and 1964, you don’t see many of these station wagons in bright yellow. According to Wikipedia, they were the first mass-market all-steel station wagons designed and built as a passenger vehicle. There were two at this car show. This was one of my favorites.

My first husband, Mark, drove a Super Bee exactly like this when I met him, and I thought it was the coolest car I’d ever seen. It wasn’t a good fishing car. The trunk was so big, he forgot that he had a bucket of smelt in it. The fish was well named, he found out after about a week.

I have no idea what kind of a car this is, but who can’t admire this much bright chrome?

55-57 Chevy’s abound at car shows. I think almost everyone in my age bracket either owned one or knew someone who did. I liked the deeper color of this 56 Chevy more than I did the lighter 57 in the next picture.

The first car I bought was a 57 Chevy and it cost $350. It wasn’t this color, nor was it in good shape. It quit running almost as soon as I bought it, and my friend said he would fix it. But he had a new girlfriend, and it never got fixed. It got towed to the Portland City Dump for sitting in front of our house too long.

I probably should have stored it in a barn, painted it yellow and towed it to a car show fifty-years later. I bet I could have sold it for a little more than $350. Hindsight!

Crazy Life Updates

  • We did not buy an antique car at the car show!
  • Best Buy had my new computer ready a day ahead of schedule – YAY!
  • I save all my passwords on a file in Google Sheets, even though my computer remembers them. I had saved the serial number of my Photoshop Elements 15 program, and I was able to download it off the Adobe site. SUPER YAY!
  • My Google Browser saved all my passwords as well, many of which I don’t need and 129 of them are risky with a bright exclamation point inside a dangerous looking red triangle.

Anything going well in your life?

  1. I would say that I’m not especially into cars but then I have to admit I would love taking photos of these beauties 😆 Glad to hear your transition to the new computer went so smoothly!

      1. No worries, I’ll look out for it tomorrow. Not sure who Doug is though?

        1. OH, Doug is my Story Chat author this month. I publish unpublished stories from authors who submit them, and then we have a chat about them, and I write up a cohesive summary of the chat. I enjoy doing it, and I think the authors and chatters do too. 🙂

          1. Ah right, yes I’ve seen some of those pieces. You have two separate projects on the go then!

          2. Yes, and I hosted Sunday Stills for three weeks and had a busted computer for over a week. So I’ve been going a little crazy! 🙂

  3. I love the yellow Jeep! I wonder if your husband has ever gone to the car show that is part of the Viva Las Vegas event? I understand that it is one of the largest in the country. You don’t need to attend the whole event (4 days of music and dancing) in order to go to the car show. It takes place in April and the cars and people watching are amazing.

    1. I’m sure we didn’t ever get there at the right time. The next one is Sept. 9-12 at a cost of $40 for pedestrians. Want to go? https://www.vivalasvegas.net/car-show/

  5. Love these yellow cars and trucks, especially that Chevy! Enjoyed your story about your 57 Chevy. Put a smile on my face. I’m sure you could have gotten a little more than your money back. LOL! 🙂

  6. Cheers to your pics and capturing the fun of car shows. There was a day when yellow was a popular car color. Love the story of your 57 Chevy! 🙂

    1. Thanks Frank. We had a fun time. I was pretty mad at my friend at the time, but it was a car I couldn’t afford to drive anyway. I ended up with a RED Mazda 323 and a car payment of $50 a month and no repair bills.

  7. what a fantastic post, all this yellow and wow there are some lovely cars here. And huge yays on the computer front, that is such great news – although you probably should stop letting google and your computer save all your passwords!!!

    1. I also have them written down, but again in Google Docs. So not too safe. I code them, though. I have nearly 200 passwords. Every little thing you buy has a password. I will have to simplify eventually.

      1. I have a password book now in a secure place, and for those I use rarely I just change the password every time!

        1. Don’t you have to remember the password to change the password? A password book sounds like a good idea.

          1. The book is a lifeline for me, and I write the passwords as hints rather than in full in the book.

And no for many you simply ask them to send you a password link to your email – so works brilliantly for those rarely used accounts

  8. I’m not much into cars for me personally, but I do enjoy walking around car shows and looking at the different types, and see the care that people put into their cars…

    1. That’s what I do. When Vince had his cars and went to the car shows for the entire day, I went home after taking a few pictures. He got really tired of it as well. 🙂
