This Week’s Topic – LIGHT or LIGHTS

I am inspired by Terri Webster Schrandt’s Sunday Stills Photo Challenge topics for December 13th. – Light or lights

Lights might be physical like the Christmas decorations we see lit up in people’s yards and in their homes. Lights glow. People light up when we see them. We have a certain glow when we are happy.

Don’t take this lightly, but the word light has many meanings, sixteen as a noun alone according to Merriam Webster. Even the word lights has two meanings. The second meaning is “the lungs especially of a slaughtered animal,” again from Merriam.

Light is also a popular verb with five definitions, two as a transitive verb and three more as an intransitive verb. Watch old movies and watch almost every actor and actress light up. Education about the dangers of smoking and the process of vaping has put an end to that light connection.

As an adjective you might use as many as 19 different meanings as you think about writing a light verse or a light comedy script.

I’m looking forward with a light heart to whatever you have to write. Quotes abound. Let one of them light up your imagination.
