The underground gardens in Fresno gives shows off refracting to the maximum.  This hand dug castle took years to create, and served it owner as a garden as well as a home.

His guests could drive right in.  We had to park on the street with the rest of the tourists!

You can imagine how much the trees loved this filtered light.

If I’m down, I just need to look at this next picture to feel up again. My brother took this picture at Navy Pier in Chicago when we traveled for his birthday last October.

  1. Wow! Your post prompted me to read about this amazing castle on Wiki. Building something like this by hand over 40 years in one’s ‘spare’ time , is utter devotion. I would love to visit it one day, so have put it on my Bucket List. 🙂 Great take on the challenge, Marsha. Love your brother’s Ferris Wheel pic too. I remember reading about your trip together. 🙂

    1. Thanks, Sylvia. It is a wonderful place. When you come, I will take you there! Here is a former post I did on that trip. http://wp.me/p2jC53-1j9 It’s still not very detailed, but there are some more pictures.

  3. What a fascinating home he created.! It’s so interesting to learn how others tick, so to speak.
I’m happy to leave the hard work to him, though. Give me a garden, a couple of dogs, and a cuppa, and I’m happy. 😉

    1. And it’s good to see you again, Carolyn! I’ve missed seeing your happy face. It’s enough to make me want a cuppa coffee right now at nearly 9:00 pm. If you were here visiting in person, I think I’d pour us each one! Let the smiling begin. 🙂

    1. It is a comfortable temperature year round. The man dug through hardpan, which is like concrete, to make this interesting tunnel house. Hope you get to see it one day. 🙂
