Boston Here I Come

I have the fortune to be going to the historic city of Boston on social studies business. I’m extending my stay since I have never been there, and live in CA, so I’ll be there from April 1-8 then on to Philadelphia and Delaware from April 8-15. Thanks to Google Images for all the pictures.…

Boston, Freedom Trail, Mapparium, Massachusetts State House, Museum of Fine Arts

I’ll be arriving at 11:00 p.m., so I’m sure the city will look beautiful. For me, it will just be 8:00. I’ll be raring to go! However, I’m alone, so I’ll get settled in my hotel, and maybe write a post or two with Manny. The good news is that I’m going to get to visit blogger friend, Eunice at NutsForTreasure while I’m there.

I investigated a couple of blogs. Free choices of interesting sights to see abound. Many friends told me to walk the Freedom Trail which starts at the Visitor Information Center in the Common.

I must see the Mapparium, a walk-in, three-story-high, stained glass globe.

I’ll enjoy visiting the Museum of Fine Arts free on Wednesday after 4:00 p.m. If I tour the Samuel Adams Brewery from 10:00-3:00 beforehand, will I have more fun, or fall asleep on the floor? zzz

Maybe I should explore the Massachusetts State House the warship, USS Constitution, and the Old North Church instead. Most of them open at 10:00 also. I’ll have plenty of time for a leisurely breakfast while I get used to the three hour time difference.

If you have been to Boston, or lived here, what would you suggest for me to see, or are you a blogger friend who lives there?

Hope you had a good time in the city where I grew up. It’s my favorite city second only to San Francisco (where I also lived). I would have suggested a trip across the river to Harvard or Cambridge, but looks like I stumbled in here too late.

  I didn’t get as much sight-seeing as I would have liked in the few days I was there. I go back for a conference in November. I’ll try to make it across. 🙂 Thanks for stumbling! I love SF, too. I’ve gone on some great walking tours. 🙂

    Boston is a great walking city if the weather is good. November might still be good, but could be dicey. I think one of my favorite things is looking back at the city from across the Charles River. But then, anyplace near water is close to my heart. Where are you in CA now? I lived in SF and later in Placerville in the Sierra foothills.
    BTW… Legal Seafood is a good choice for good seafood, as someone else commented. They have quite a few locations in and around the city.

Take a sunset cruise and watch the USS Constitution fire a cannon at sunset. We walked the Freedom Trail. Expect lots of other people to be doing the same thing. I highly recommend the MIT Museum in Cambridge. It’s small but it has some amazing exhibits of robots and inventions from those heady folks at MIT.

So much to do – so little time. But – whatever you get a chance to see I’m sure will be wonderful. I have yet to catch all that Boston has to offer.
I’ve been there a few time. I love that place.
If you can catch a baseball game – I highly recommend it. Let’s go Red Sox! 🙂

A ballpark tour would be fantastic – if you can squeeze that in too or instead – depending on what else you have going on.

If you get a hot dog – you will love their bread. I do.

Boston’s a Great city (especially if it’s warm). If you have the time and haven’t been, Faneuil Hall and Quincy Market are touristy, but are in historic areas.
