My brother and I took a side trip to Michigan to see the Warren Dunes where we vacationed once as kids. I wasn’t inspired to return. I’m sure it must have better days. This was a bad beach day. Click on widget to participate in Paula’s challenge.

I understand the bit about barbecue, but why doggies are not allowed – not that I have any to bring 😦 I am grateful for your participation Marsha, and I like your b&w beach.

Thanks! When I saw the sign, I thought it seemed so unfriendly. South, just a few miles, Hoosiers pride themselves on their hospitality. Wolverines are obviously not so inclined. 🙂

My guess is that a few clods let their dogs do their “business” wherever they please, then leave others to deal with it. A few folks demand action, and local government passes a heavy-handed rule. Hence, you end up with a rule that forbids animals on the beach. I don’t understand the part about the grills, but I guess it’s the same thing, with people leaving a mess when they’re done.

You are probably right, Cotton. It made for an unfriendly beach. So did the bone-chilling wind! 🙂

It looks like a very gloomy place indeed – but makes for a great photo! 😀

It was gloomy, but black and white may have made it more so. I darkened it slightly, too! 🙂 Nonetheless, I was very glad to leave the place! 🙂

I was this fall. I live in CA. I grew up in Indianapolis, and we vacationed on Lake Michigan one summer. How are you doing, weather-wise today? 🙂

Girl it’s finally warmer! I thought I was going to freeze! It’s 61º today! Heatwave. That’s how it is in Oklahoma! The weather can drop 60º in one day or warm up! You live in the perfect climate I think in CA. 🙂

Wow! It’s not much hotter than that here. It is nice here. We just need rain. 🙂

Well we definitely have some hometown roots in common. My friends and I in High School, use to skip school and go to Warren Dunes. LOL. Also, I see you grew up in Indianapolis, my youngest daughter lives there and loves it.

My brother and I went back to visit this October. It was marvelous. Many parts haven’t changed. Our little street where we lived the longest has old trees where it had bare lots when we lived there. The houses are still tiny, and the lots huge. Indianapolis in Oct. is lovely. Yes, and we both look midwestern. You get the midwestern out of a person, even if they live in CA! 🙂

Not a paradise beach pic, for sure, Marsha. Think I’ll give that one a miss. 🙂

Or maybe no animals in glass containers. We used to catch lightning bugs in glass containers.

A thing of the past – glass mayonnaise jars…and yes, I have captured my share of lightning bugs in them too!

Now they are all being used in restaurants as water glasses – hopefully with no animals inside! 🙂
