Wordless Wednesday: Family Friendly Notre Dame

In the heart of South Bend, Indiana lies the famed University of Notre Dame, home of the fighting Irish.

Two days ago on the tour my brother and I stood wordlessly in the Grotto.

We stood respectfully off the grass in the God Quad.

Unlike the disrespectful chipmunk.

We silently admired the largest collection of French stained glass anywhere in the world, including France.

It was a relatively quiet tour of respect and admiration.

Randy sat wordlessly tired out after three hours of touring – some before the tour began.

I ended up being late for Wednesday, but if you’d enjoy other Wordless Wednesday posts click here.

Hi, I'm Marsha Ingrao, a retired educator and wife of a retired realtor. My all-consuming hobby is blogging and it has changed my life. My friends live all over the world. For thirty-five years, I lived in the most beautiful area in Central Valley of California in the foothills of the Sierra Nevada Mountains minutes from the Sequoia National Park. As a child I moved from Indiana to Oregon. With my first husband I moved from Oregon to Colorado to California. Every time we moved, it hurt so much to leave friends. I never wanted to move again. After Mark passed, I married again. I told Vince that I could never budge from my roots in California. He said he loved the high desert. I don't think he ever thought he would realize his dream. In November, 2020, we sold everything and retired to the mile-high desert of Prescott, AZ. We live less than five miles from the Granite Dells, four lakes and hundreds of trails with our dog, Kalev, and two cats, Moji and Nutter Butter. Vince's sister came with us and lives close by. Every day is a new adventure.

    1. How exciting. I had never been there before, in spite of spending my first 15 years in Indiana. It was a wonderful experience. A son of one of my brother’s friends goes there, and sons of my parents went there as well. It was quite beautiful and a sweet experience. Thanks for the comment. Tell your daughter hi for us.

  1. Long time no see .. and all because of my butt *smile – love that header photo – brilliant … something has happen to your site, so much lighter .. *smile – Interesting post about a school I never heard about – and lovely photos to go with it. Impressive.

    1. Hi Viveka, I’ve missed you. I haven’t been browsing or posting as much as normal, but you can see why. Are you back from your trip to NYC? What a fun time it looked like you had! So what does your butt have to do with not seeing me? Were you turned the wrong direction? I’m lost on that one! tee hee! I’ve been lost a lot in the last few days! Good thing I don’t pay for mileage on my rental car! Notre Dame is famous for its football, and quite a few other things, I learned on the tour. So good to see you. Lots of love 🙂 M

      1. My butt is on fire since … 2 months time now, so I can not sit for a longer period. I have done some post about my trip to NYC … I think it’s 6 in total by now.
And a couple more to come, had a great time in a great city – luckily my butt problem didn’t come along .. but I got them back 2 days after my return home.
You haven’t been around in my world and missed all the excitement about my trip and my health problems *smile
        Great to hear from you.

          1. You don’t have to stress over to my world … only when you have time and feel for it.
            Last day together ?????
I hope for a wonderful weekend for you.

  2. Wait! Where’s Touchdown Jesus?! I dated a guy for five years, oh so many years ago, who graduated from Notre Dame–of the Joe Montana era. The origin of the Hail Mary Pass…going down memory lane, here. Please excuse me. 😮
