I do love blogging, and I try to post consistently so that my blogging friends will know I’m alive and keep coming to see me.  I recently read a recommended book, Getting Started with Twitter for Dummies, and updated my Twitter account.  There I learned blogging tips from Daniel Sharkov, a 19-year-old.  So today, because of his recommendation, I just added a new page, New Here, to help explain why I’m here on this blogging planet.  Check it out and tell me if it looks ok.  I like the idea when I meet new bloggers to have this available in addition to About.  Do you prefer links or narrative on a page?  Or both?

Y-M-C-A  It’s SO all about me!!!

Now that I’ve been at this blogging experiment for over a year, it’s time to clean house, and reorganize to make my blog house more comfortable and inviting.  I do love a sparkling clean house – although mine isn’t always.  I love my closets to be organized, but they aren’t  because I keep adding stuff to them.  I like to redecorate, too.  So every so often I have to make decisions, organize, straighten, spruce up, and dust.  I’m going to be doing that to my blog house, so bear with me while I’m under construction.  I’ll still be open for visits, and I have plenty of lemonade and cookies to share. Which reminds me, I’m hungry!  Want a waffle with strawberries for breakfast?

Skipping to another topic completely, yesterday Sally invited me to go with her to the Iris Festival in Porterville, CA  Before I close I thought you might like to see some of the beautiful irises.  This place won’t be here next year.  They sold their property and are pulling up all their plants and moving them to Utah , I believe.  So enjoy them for this year.  This is my first and last encounter with them, BUT I did by three rhizomes.  Sorry I didn’t get the names of all of the flowers.  I started taking pictures of names later in the game.  Thank you Sally Pace for inviting me to go.  The ice cream at Orange Works was wonderful, too!  mmmm fresh squeezed orange ice cream swirled with vanilla.  mmm  I’m still hungry!  mmm

    I really don’t know how you Ladies cope with having so many blogs, twits and so on. I have enough problems watching your lovely rabbit while I am typing. One active plus two quiet blogs are more than enough for me 😀

    Lovely slideshow !! I love irises. Shame they are going, but at least you saw them this year MVBFM. Ralph xox 😀

      What’s a twit, Ralph? I didn’t know I had them! Oh, you mean a tweet! hahaha That beautiful, lovely rabbit would not have gotten lose, if it weren’t for you. And since you gave him to me, dear Ralph, he will always be part of my blog. So, I’m sorry he distracts you so, but he is special to me, and he’s safely penned in where he can’t get out and over-reproduce. 🙂 🙂 xox RVBFM

    I’m going to buck that trend re Twitter, at least for a little while longer… As it is now, I’ve hardly time to keep up with my own blogging and reading those I enjoy… Perhaps when I retire I’ll have more time. Until then, I shall find it easy to resist. Though, I love that you are enjoying yourself; it’s so obvious from your posts… 😉

      Carolyn, I’m trying to learn more about Twitter to become more proficient at communicating during meetings. We have 4 board meetings a year, and in meetings one person can talk at a time, but everyone has ideas. When you open a hashtag, then every one has a chance to speak and be heard minute by minute. The moderator can be monitoring the hashtag and alert the facilitator so that if things come up during the meeting, they are heard rather than pushed aside. But the facilitator still has control of the meeting. If you don’t get to all the comments during the meeting, you can preface the meeting saying that you will personally address all the concerns. If our board members start using Twitter than it makes our organization more transparent to everyone. And the more transparent and visible we are, the more potential “clout” we have to forward our agenda, which is “to keep social studies in the classroom k-12.” 🙂

        The Internet (in general) is a wonderful medium for all types of interaction. Your reasons behind your desire to learn more (re Twitter) are now so evident; and to your credit… Perhaps, one day I shall be seeking your expertise… 😉

    Good luck, I don’t need or want any more social media to keep up with! With 8 facebook pages and two (soon to be three) websites to manage and one blog – not to mention all my freelance stuff – I don’t have time for one more thing! I hope you have fun with it.
    I can’t even blog regularly because of the craziness. (not that I was all that consistent in the first place. :-P) And don’t even talk to me about cleaning house – I have to invite people over just so I’m motivated to do some speed cleaning! LOL
    The irises are beautiful! Our things are just beginning to open here. We have another freeze warning for next weekend. Yuck!

      Here we are getting hotter by the minute. I think our spring is over, and we are going to jump right into summer. You have way more to manage than I could do! Wow! I contribute to other websites some, but 8 facebook pages! Yikes. I can’t believe you do that to yourself!!! You’re a busy girl! 🙂

        Yes, somedays too busy. I’ve spent the last few days editing senior portraits. Then I mowed and got into poison ivy. I’m being lazy and not doing anything today so far. 😛

      hahaha They all lose their glory, but they also develop and have more specific purposes. I feel it has taken blogging for me to grow into social media. At first I was so gung ho, and not many people responded to me. Now it is more natural like, when a friend of mine sees something they particularly like, they comment. And I do the same. It’s not a frantic feeling anymore. Same with blogging. I’m just happy when people stop to comment or smile and say hi. 🙂

        Regarding … blogging, I’m exactly the same .. I love when people make a comment … big or small. Have been visiting blogs that have about 300 likes and not one comment … I would have felt so lonely if my blogging word was like that. I know people click like even without reading the post – it shows in the stats.
        5 likes and no visits. It’s all about response in everything we do during life … without response we don’t know where we stand.
        Was very active on FB before – but .. I rather take the phone and talk to my friends. Blogging has change my relationship with GB.

          Blogging does change you. Now even my husband reads what I think. It has made a big difference in our lives. I’m always surprised when a friend tells me that they read my blog, or read it regularly. ‘m honored and amazed. I do love to talk to my friends, too, but FB helps me keep my fingers on their pulses. It’s all good. 🙂

      Instead of insert media, you choose create gallery. Then once you choose your pictures it takes you to another screen and there is a drop down menu. If you don’t click on it, you get a gallery in columns of 1-4 I think. But the last choice in that drop down menu is slide show. When you click that, it’s automatic. I prefer it because the pictures are bigger than tiles. 🙂

      By the time I was done photographing, running with Sally to get ice cream, and got to the boxes of irises, that was about all they had left, and I only had $20 with me. The choices to buy there were limited. I have a feeling we can order some. 🙂
