Can you believe that I could get somewhere – anywhere at 6:15 a.m.?Good, that means you know me pretty well.  I got there at 6:25 a.m., complete with camera, but my disk had no space AND no pictures.  What’s up with that?  I learned how to format my disk today because of it.  Needless to say, I was a little late to my assigned post, but I got there.  It turned out that many people came to help, so I didn’t have much to do, but enjoy the day.

My very good friend Connie from Tulare County Office of Education (TCOE) showed up, and we walked the path slowly, relishing the chance to catch up .

The day was off to a lovely start.  The temperature was cool enough that I appreciated my coat for a while, then quickly shed it, as we strolled into last place.  Altogether 73 runners and walkers participated in this fund raiser.  All the proceeds from the event go to the Woodlake Food Pantry.   It’s a real privilege to be part of a community organization that gives so much back to the community.

How was your Saturday?  What is your favorite charitable organization or fundraising activity?

  1. You’re a good (and very busy) person. I participate in several runs each year and am always happy to know that the fees paid go to good people and good causes. It’s win-win … lots of folks get some good exercise which, in turn, benefits a number of good and deserving people and causes. I have recently run races in in support of both ovarian and breast cancer awareness. D

    1. Yeah! I did that a few years ago – 60 miles/3 days! I’m not so sure it was win-win. I thought I was going to die!!!! Then I gained 10 pounds, then another 7 because I had no desire to walk very much anymore. Fortunately I have recovered since then! hahaha Good for you though. I notice you say “run” not “walk!” hahaha Have a great day 🙂 M

  4. I think that is an untrimmed tree. Or maybe a court jester tree. Ther is one in Augusta that looked like that and I always thought it looked like a court jester.

  5. What a great thing to do, Marsha. I love the pics!

My charitable organization of choice is the Australian Brain Tumor Alliance. My nephew started it up after recovering from a brain tumor and it’s been highly successful in helping people through very difficult times. It’s wonderful to get in and help those who are in difficulty – what a sad world it would be if we didn’t get together to help others like this. Well done, my friend! 😀

    1. Thank you so much Dianne. Wow, brain tumor! My best friend’s husband had 21 cancerous brain tumors when they finally discovered them. He was nearly symptom free. We played cards about 3-4 times a week, and my husband would complain that he sometimes bid so poorly that he didn’t understand what in the world he was thinking, but even so we had NO clue that he had brain tumors. Such a scary thing, brain tumors. Good for you to support that organization. 🙂 Well done to you!

  6. Loved all your pictures, Marsha. What a nice day you all had. That two-mile walk is manageable and would be really nice. I’ve done a 20-mile, all-day walk for charity before, but it was pretty rough.

Walking through the Botanical Gardens was a nice ending. I hope you will tell what the artichoke looking thing is – and the tree, too. 😉

    1. Hi Maddie,
It was an artichoke! hahaha The tree, I’m not so sure what it is. I did a 3 day 60 mile walk for breast cancer four years ago, and I about died! It was so rough on my feet because I made the mistake of having a pedicure the day before I went. I misread the instructions. Five miles into the 60 miles I got enormous blisters – and I had never had blisters before – through all the training – never! It was so hard! 🙂

    1. You know, I really don’t know. I’ll have to go back and see if there are any signs, otherwise I may have to wait until there is some fruit. 🙂
