Staycation Time – Virtual Visiting Through All My Blog Friends

Yes, I’ve reached that point in my blogging life – 300 + posts, 20,000 + visitors, 8 + months of blogging almost every day.  I tried to do this a week or so ago, but just couldn’t stay away.  I am a bona fide bloggaholic according to  Ralph’s definition.

I’m addicted to the LOVE of all my BLOG FRIENDS!!!

So here’s my plan.  I really am going to step back a bit this time.  I’ll have more time

to visit your sites, and rethink what I want to do with blogging.  I’ll be answering comments, of course – how could I not.  I live for your comments!!!  I’ll work on organizing and refitting my blog, and I’ll be taking care of other necessary duties.

I need your input, though.  What next steps should I take with blogging?

  • Start a new focused blog or two on specific interests of mine?
  • Just keep going the way I am – random posts nearly every day?
  • Stop blogging and just write books?  Sorry I can’t do that!  I’m addicted to Y’ALL.
  • Blog less frequently and stop blasting you with a post a day?
  • Start an “Ask Marsha Lee” Blog giving silly or semi-silly advice to folks
  • Refurbish this site and turn it into a custom site that is not hosted by WP so that I have more flexibility
  • Just slow down
  • Be SERIOUS instead of always TRYING to be funny.  (OK that might be too much of a stretch!!!)

What should I do to get to my next 20,000 visitor mark?

Thanks so much to Papi and to Alastair for crowning me with awards this week.  You both are gold stars in my book!!!  I mean blog.

Author: Marsha

Hi, I'm Marsha Ingrao, a retired educator and wife of a retired realtor. My all-consuming hobby is blogging and it has changed my life. My friends live all over the world. For thirty-five years, I lived in the most beautiful area in Central Valley of California in the foothills of the Sierra Nevada Mountains minutes from the Sequoia National Park. As a child I moved from Indiana to Oregon. With my first husband I moved from Oregon to Colorado to California. Every time we moved, it hurt so much to leave friends. I never wanted to move again. After Mark passed, I married again. I told Vince that I could never budge from my roots in California. He said he loved the high desert. I don't think he ever thought he would realize his dream. In November, 2020, we sold everything and retired to the mile-high desert of Prescott, AZ. We live less than five miles from the Granite Dells, four lakes and hundreds of trails with our dog, Kalev, and two cats, Moji and Nutter Butter. Vince's sister came with us and lives close by. Every day is a new adventure.

  1. Congrats on your stats in such as short time! I could use your advice on how you grew it so fast.
Maybe don’t post as frequently– that might give you time and space to develop your posts– but hey, it’s working for you! Do what you want!

  2. Congrats on your awards and 300+ posts. I think you should just relax and blog whatever, whenever. I hardly ever look at my stats, and when WP sent me the ‘2012 in review’, I was amazed at how many time my blog had been viewed. There are a lot of people out there. 😀 Happy weekend to you, Marsha.

  3. Congratulations! I say do whatever feels right to you, so that you keep blogging!!! I’ve enjoyed getting to know you and I’m thrilled that you are addicted, so that I know you’ll stick around! 🙂 (think twice about a niche thing. As a person with a niche blog, I can tell you that it sometimes ‘gets in the way’ if I want to talk about something else, I feel restricted, and usually I don’t stray far.)

    1. You know, when you get those feelings, why don’t you do a guest post on my blog. I’m not sure exactly how that works, but people do it all the time. 🙂 lots of love, Marsha 🙂

      1. How sweet! You’re a dear …. but I don’t feel moved enough about anything at the moment. 🙂 I was thinking about inviting some guest posts on my blog, too …. you have motivated me to look into how to do that! 🙂

        1. I know, but we both won’t stay unmoved for very long!!! I’ll research it too, when I get motivated!!! We’ll have a race and see who gets motivated first!!! 🙂 (or last!!!)

  4. You’ve done it again Marsha. I was checking through my notifier (Pending) Staycation. This is weird, a blank avatar pic. So I clicked it and ended up here. Marsha !!!! You frightened the life out of me. I’ve been getting from you, Anonymous, Someone, Staycation and occasionally Marsha. Are you working for the FBI?? The Fluffy Bunny Interest???

Oh. Thanks for the Trackback. I haven’t a clue what it does ……… possibly a rabbit hole through which you can get to my blog quickly.

Just do what you do Marsha ………. giving me a bad time 😉 xox

    1. And I love doing it!

Autty and I were just talking last night about the fact that my Chinese sign is rabbit, and I have a harelip, and now here I am working for the FBI.

Too funny!!! It fits, though!!! Just call me Fluffy for short!!!

      🙂 lol 🙂 Here’s to a “bad time”!!!! 🙂 ML

      1. Uh Oh!!!

        You know that rabbit hole

        I just mentioned.

        Sorry!! *cringe*

I think the rabbits are escaping through it into your blog from my “I Hop#”

        comments. Sorry Marsha !!

      2. Er!! I am sooooo sorry Fluffy,

um, Marsha. They’ve sort of got out.

What will we do ?? I mean they could get all over WP in other blogs !! Oh dear !!

    1. Thanks Naomi. Measurements are fun, when you measure against your self. I love stats, but they sort of drive me sometimes. I’m going to step back and try to ignore their flashing fireworks, and just get all my other work done for a while, and try to decide what I want to accomplish with my blog besides just having fun with all of you. I get lots of compliments on y’all, MY FRIENDS, y’know!!1 🙂 Lots of love 🙂 ML

    1. I won’t stop entirely. I just need to get everything in perspective, and figure out where I want to go with my blog. I don’t want to lose touch with my new friends, that’s for sure. I love all of you! I just have been working at the computer 10-12 hours a day, and it’s getting to me!! 🙂 Lots of love to you Carol 🙂

  5. I’d go with enjoying yourself in the ‘sphere.
Post what and when you want, and enjoy visiting the sites you like.
If you aren’t having fun, what’s the point?

    1. I am having fun! I’m also spending abou 10-12 hours a day in my office chiar! A bit much with all the other things I’ve committed to do. This is one of the optional things I have, and I want to step back and reorganize myself. I won’t stop, though. I love blogging WAY too much for that!!! I love all of you!!! Take care and keep reading and writing. I’ll be answering comments 🙂 AND I do have 303 posts written!!! 🙂 hahaha 🙂

  6. Congrats on your stats milestone! I like your idea “Start an “Ask Marsha Lee” Blog giving silly or semi-silly advice to folks” except without starting a sperate blog. I love it when there is lots of back and forth between commenters and the blog author.

  7. I’ll echo some of the other thoughts and say, keep it the way it is. If you want more time to interact, post less frequently. Also you can give it a theme change if you think that would help you feel differently about it. Obviously you’re doing something right to have reached these milestones 😉

      1. I don’t how or why everyone wants to use notifications in stead of making a comment. Most of the time I can’t see the whole notification. Sometimes there is so many that I need tto scroll down ,then I lose them all.

        1. If you click on view all, then you see the entire comment, and when you reply, you don’t lose them. If you make a short reply, it’s ok to do it the short-cut way. But if you want to get wordy, press view all!!! 🙂

  8. Congratulations on 20k visits. That is awesome. Why change a good thing? If you wish to post every other day though, and spend the other day however you wish, I say go for it.

  9. A BIG congratulations to you, Marsha! I love your stats – well done! 😉 I like “Just keep going the way I am – random posts nearly every day” and “Start an “Ask Marsha Lee” Blog giving silly or semi-silly advice to folks” 😀

    1. V wants me to do a silly Ask Marsha. That might be really fun. I like the way you do posts. They’re cute, and you don’t do as many as I do, but they get hundreds of comments! I’ll see what happens when I leave my stuff up for longer, and just answer comments!! 🙂 I started reading your book last night! So far I love it. What a topic – cyber bullying and bullying in general! WOW! That problem is ubiquitous!!! I’m going to try to finish that in the next day or so and do my review of it. It may be my first new post in a few days. That’s my goal anyway. 🙂

      1. I think my posts get a lot of comments because I only post about once a week, so whenever anyone comes to my blog they see that one post and comment on it. I find that when people post daily they don’t get as many comments (plus I only check WP about twice a week so I miss commenting on bloggers that post daily – in fact some people post 3 – 4 times a day and I’m not sure how they can find the time do that!)

        I’m so glad you’re liking The Eleventh Question! 😀 You’ve made my day 😀 😀 😀

I’ll certainly be ‘Asking Marsha” 😉

        1. Dianne, I just finished the book. WOW!!!! You are SUCH a powerful writer. I would just like to take a sip of your writing fluid and have the power of your words flow in my veins!!! Amazing. Totally spell binding. WHEW I’m reeling!!! 🙂

      1. Have you thought of inviting all the children in California to take one …. no two each. I can’t block the rabbit hole and I am needed urgently to answer comments in my other blog. Big hop.. no hug. Ralph xox

    1. It’s because I have blocked my end of the rabbit hole. A lot escaped into your blog. You should have millions while the Superbowl is on as they hate football and have found something that bunnies do to keep them happy.
Yes. The “big hop …. no hug” is a dance performed only on Superbowl Day by wives whose husbands are sprawled on the settee with a can of beer watching The Game 😉

  10. A rabbit is hopping below. I am well acquainted with rabbits, as we have two real-time bunnys that give us lots of love. Ours don’t multiply, as the male got fixed years ago! Yours should maybe go the cyber vet for neutering so they quit multiplying.

Working to see if I can sorta be your area for job-search related event. Will keep you posted.

About your blog adventures: Me thinks you should just ease up a bit (bullet No. 7). Drat, my obsessive technical writing is kicking in. And maybe you can visit more blogger sites and post your usual upbeat hilarious comments.

    A fellow blogger, newbie Sirfelion.

    1. Awwww, Sir. What nice things you say!!! I sure hope you can come out this way!!! Babs mentioned Portland. Depending on when you come, I would happily go up there to meet you both. My brother lives in Portland, and it would be great to see him as well. March is a really busy month for me. We have our big conference in Burlingame, and I am going to LA, then having company from Wisconsin. In Feb. we are expecting company. I have a CCSS meeting at my house in April. Just to let you know so that if you have any control over your schedule you can avoid times I won’t be available.

I definitely will be visiting more sites. Thanks for stopping by here!!! 🙂 Lots of love to you and Babs!!! 🙂

      1. Aloha luv,

Looks like poor Sir is heading out on his own. I’ve been helping him plan it and we both decided that it’s wiser if he lumbered out on his own this time. There will be another trip coming up a few months down the way.

So, he shall be lurking about Portland, leering in dark corners, absorbing the energy of the area, and then he’ll be hopping into AWEA’s wind energy conference to cavort with wind fans…har har haw 😉

        VERY excited!!

        S. Toad

  11. It’s good that you’re taking a bit of a time-out if you need it! As for your blog, I like it the way it is, and from my experience, I’d advise against new specific blogs – it’s a lot more work than you think and you could always just add new categories to this blog if you wanted to. Have a relaxing break and come back all fresh and full of new fun ideas! 🙂

  12. STOP BLOGGING? What, what?!! Might as well turn yourself into the authorities for the cruel ruthless homicide of a certain poor innocent unsuspecting smiling toad. Why, I’d have to wait…at least a whole YEAR for each book to come spindling out…granted I look forward to delectable, fire-side reads, delving into the chortling world of Marsha genius, tantilising words scrolled across HUNDREDS of pages (oooo the euphoria at the prospect!)…but to be without your blog….dear lass, I may be an old biddy at soul, but I still want to live a weeeee bit longer!

WHAT WHAT? SERIOUS instead of evoking the language of the Soul, laughter?????!!! WHAT?!!! (by the way, adorable gambolling wee lagomorphs there dappling this post, too lovely). My dear lass, are you attempting to evoke great bullet-sized tears to come crashing out of the lachrymal glands of your readers? How could you deprive us of a brilliant chortle swiveling out of that fantastic mind? How…how…COULD you?!

Now, as for this delightful plot of an Ask Marsha blog, FABULOUS! May I be a guest advisor now and then??? VERY excited!! Ask Marsha and guest Dear Babby 😉 What do you think, eh, arg??

P.S. This comment was so nice twelve seconds ago when I first wrote it, but the fingers stumbled and suddenly it was erased, egad.

Anyhow, congrats dear friend, and whatever you decide to do, I will be there to cheer you on! Though it IS difficult for corpses to cheer (if this blog suddenly vanished….).

Love to you and V and PG,

    Old Salt

      1. A third P.S.

I definitely understand the need to slow down. A nice break to you, and looking forward to future posts, whatever you decide (I seem to have sobered up slightly after the suddenly shock earlier). A lot of time at the computer can really drain one sometimes. I, too, am in a state of reassessing, re-organising and re-balancing blog times, photo-processing times, and what I want to provide. Wishing you the grooviest with it lass! Just do not abandon old briny lass! (sniveling) You are….TOO groovy!

        Autumn Jade

        1. Trust me, our friendship will not tarnish with my taking a few days off, and V is enjoying the break!! I get a bit obsessive with my blogging! And I still have to get my minutes written for TCHS, and two letters off on behalf if CCSS, plus normal stuff. I should have a post in a few days. I just love auto correct using a cell phone!! It turned days into data without a blink of approval from me! Lucky I caught it!!

    1. Dearest Salt, I am NOT going to quit!!! Too much fun!! You know my life is crazy right now with stuff I HAVE to get done!!! I’m already planning my next post, I just won’t do it as often. I still need to write my book!!! Look forward to possibly seeing you someday soon!! 🙂

    1. Thanks, Ralph helped me with that one. You have to use code talk, and I haven’t played with it before. I’m only scary knowledgeable! I’m learning from others all the time!!!

    1. Thanks, my blogging friend Ralph taught me how to embed them, and so it came from his site. He’s the clever one!!! 🙂 M You’d enjoy his site if you don’t know him. He grows on you, but he’s got quite a fan club of all ages.
