Jakeprinter’s Sunday Post this week is City.

I love to travel, and most of all I love to go to museums when I travel. My step-son married in France, so we had the obvious pleasure of traveling there for the wedding. After the wedding, of course, we were on our own. So we traveled from the small southern town where they married to Paris, and were to meet them there after a week. I had just been to the National Archives in the United States for the first time. I apologise to the French, but I was disappointed in their National Archives. Many rooms were nearly bare as they had moved items to the Louvre.

I altered the photo because I thought it looked way to drab. I added two layers of increased contrast decreased brightness. It didn’t do a thing for the sky, but I think it made a difference. The sky, as I remember from MANY years ago, was drab. It was a chilly September day.
So now that you have seen them both, which one do you like better?
I think the true to life one is just okay, but not very exciting. Your tweaked version is far more attractive. 🙂

Ooooo Paris!! One of my dearest chums in the world abides there, she’s going to the Sorbonne, lucky lassie. She is originally from Turkey and knows French, English, Turkish, and she will be learning Spanish soon. I’m not sure if she knows German. Her brother is studying in Germany. She’s been reading Shakespeare’s Caesar, I told her to think of me when she’s reading Marc Antony’s confrontation with Brutus before battle- I got to play that bit once for class, class was terrified, it was fabulous. Nothing better than terrifying classes. Right, well, I definately like the second better, well done! For sky, I have actually pasted in sky from photos of the same day. Can be slightly laborious, though. Often, when I’m taking the photos I will take the same photo a few times at different aperature levels so I can paste/layer in sky, when it is a bleary cloudy day. I really shouldn’t mention these things, as I really DO NOT know what I’m doing. I’m sure there are gallons of better options than that that I am entirely ignorant of. Anyhow, love the post!!

I like tweaking and playing with the light and contrast etc. I think you are right to make it a little more interesting. It is amazing what just a little bit can do. 🙂

HI Marsha,
I see good things about both, but the enhanced photo holds my eye better. Fun post. I love before and after shots! And now you always have a place to stay when you go to France! We’re museum goers too.
